Are Squiggly Eyebrows Really Going to Be the Next Big Brow Trend?
Aug 29, 2017
There are some rather disconcerting, squiggly rumors floating around out there concerning the eyebrow industry. Now, bear in mind, it took us a while to grow in full, shapely brows to be part of the full brow trend. It took a lot of patience, careful shaping, and precise coloring wherever there were thin patches. And now, you're asking us to do WHAT with our brows? This has to be a joke, right?!
Promise Tamang. This is Instagram model and makeup artist promise Tamang. She is credited with starting the squiggly brow trend.
A big hit. Promise's first "squiggly" photo was a big hit. However, she photoshopped her brows to achieve the look. So, Promise decided to see if she could achieve the look without using any editing software.
The first step. The first step is to make your natural eyebrows invisible. You use a gel or a pomade and brush all of your eyebrow hairs in the same direction. Then, carefully apply a concealer.
Powder. Let the concealer dry completely. Then, apply a good powder that matches your skin tone. Don't cake too much of it on. Be patient. The goal is to create the illusion of no brows at all.
No photoshop needed. Once you've made your natural brows disappear, you are free to go wild. You can try out the squiggly look, like Promise does, using a gel brow liner, finishing powder and a steady hand or a stencil.
Eyebrow threading. You can, of course, get your eyebrows threaded to achieve the squiggly look. Just remember, threading your eyebrows into an unusual design takes a long time to reverse, should you change your mind about the look.
The result. This is the result of actually getting your brows threaded to look squiggly. It's a little more natural compared to the entirely drawn-on or photoshopped approach but still quite the statement.
Other threading trends. People are getting very creative when it comes to eyebrow threading, as seen here. This is a spiky version of the squiggle.
Drake. Drake is very fashion forward, so we're not surprised to see that he's embraced the wavy trend. Some skeptics might suggest that Drake has been photoshopped; I say, show us the receipts!
Full coverage plus a squiggly brow. This is another example of fully masking your natural brow and then drawing on a squiggle. It's a look, that's for sure.
Other options. There are all sorts of haute makeup looks you can explore when you cover your natural brows. Please, though, don't actually remove your natural brows.
Haute looks. Playing around with your eyebrows (or lack thereof) changes the entire shape o f your face.
Threading. It looks like this model might have had squiggly threading done. Either that, or someone very talented is behind this squiggly brow.
Promise. Promise is one of the few people who can pull off a squiggly brow. She is known for her bold looks.
Promise. Here's Promise again, looking like a gorgeous alien. She's not exactly a natural beauty, but she's stunning nonetheless.
