“Misguided” Attempts to Portray Body Positivity: Adding Stretch Marks to Generate False Likes

Fashion brand Misguided made headlines recently for their "body positivity" efforts in showing models in their natural skin. Stretchmarks were included in their finished photos as they stated they had jumped on the bandwagon for ending false images of women. Now fans are questioning their integrity by saying they appear to have photo shopped stretchmarks onto the bodies of the models to generate revenue in the body positivity movement.
Misguided. The fashion label, Misguided, had recently announced they would no longer be photoshopping their models. They announced they wanted to be part of the body positivity movement by portraying their models in their natural skin.
Joining the Movement. Several other labels have recently made the same move. Lane Bryant received rave reviews for their campaign showing stretchmarks on their bikini models.
Gaining Momentum. The move has gained momentum in recent months. The hope is to end the idea that in order to be "perfect", we must not possess the natural "flaws" that are commonly airbrushed out. Many have done side-by-side comparisons to show the ridiculous amount of photoshopping that goes into finished products to allow people to see just how unrealistic it is.
