Opioid addiction in America is referred to as an epidemic for a reason. It affects people of all ages, races and socioeconomic backgrounds. We understand drug addiction a little better than we used to. We have acknowledged the link that exists between the pharmaceutical industry, prescription painkillers and the opioids addicts seek out on the streets. However, we seem to be fighting a losing battle; Americans die of accidental overdoses every single day, and we don't know how to stop it.
