Andrei Chikatilo, the Butcher of Rostov, Arrested With Rotten Human Flesh in His Digestive Tract
Aug 8, 2017
Andrei Chikatilo was a Soviet serial killer known as the Butcher of Rostov or the Red Ripper. When he was finally brought into police custody, there was a foul odor coming from his pores. It was later determined that the foul odor was caused by rotten human flesh in his digestive tract. Before we go any further, let's take a look at how Andrei wound up here.Chikatilo was born in Ukraine in 1936. This period of time was called the Holodomor. There was mass starvation in the Ukraine thanks to Stalin's agricultural policies. Allegedly, Andrei's older brother was killed by starving neighbors and cannibalized. Cannibalism was widespread in Ukraine during the Holodomor because people were desperate for food. Perhaps it was his brother's death that led Andrei down a very dark path. When he was old enough, he moved to Russia, and his own reign of terror soon began.
