Belle Gunness is one of the craziest serial killers, having possibly killed over 40 people. She would lure men to her house and they would never be seen again. Motivated by greed, she was driven to kill a mass number of people—the exact number, we might never be sure of.
About. Belle Gunness lived around the turn of the 20th century. She lived in both Illinois and Indiana, but she originally hailed from Norway, Ranker reports. She married her first husband three years after moving to the United States.
About. Gunness' list of crimes includes mass murder of members of her own family, insurance fraud, and possibly faking he death to escape. At 6 feet tall weighing 200 lbs., Gunness was a strong force. The Indiana farm where she lived is now referred to as "Murder Farm."
Fire. Belle Gunness' house caught fire in 1908, killing three of her children. Her children, Myrtle, Lucy, and Phillip were found dead in their beds. Another victim was found that was believed to be Gunness herself, but the body was headless and appeared to be shorter than she was. So, it is believed she used the fire to fake her own death. A hired hand who worked on the farm was charged with the fire.
