You can put it in before your period, safely. One great thing about the menstrual cup is that the’re no health risk associated with keeping it in when your period is light or not there at all. So, if your period is timely and your cycle is predictable, you can actually put it in right before your period starts to spare your underwear.
Cleaning it. You do have to wash it when you take it out, before you put it back in. Mild soap and hot water does the trick. After your cycle is over, you can wash it like you normally do, or boil it to be more sanitary.
